Moody Powder Room: Beautiful Drama in Dark Colors

Table of Contents

Moody powder rooms are quite the thing these days! Gone is the all-white trend where we were afraid to use color! The power of paint will take your powder room to the next level! I have included a wide variety of darker-colored bathrooms to hopefully help you get your project on its way.

This moody powder room is excellently accessorized with a charcoal sketch artwork and unique lighting. The blonde oak floors help to add just the right amount of warmth to balance it out.

Dark Olive Powder Room

I’ve got a treat for you! Although this is not one of my paint color articles, I do have the paint color for this bathroom! It is Benjamin Moore ‘Dark Olive.’ My favorite think about this bathroom is the raw-antiqued vanity and the coordinated raw wood frame artwork. Dark bronze and black hardware help seal the deal for a modern farmhouse look.

Moody Powder Room Meets Modern Farmhouse

Speaking of ‘modern-farmhouse,’ here is another great example of this look! The shiplap walls add great texture and interest in the repeating lines that you can see. A fun tile is one more way to add pattern to the space. The deep navy blue wall color helps make all the other elements pop.

Walnut Vanity and Taupe Walls

Are you looking for a way to finish off your powder room and help it not look bland? How about a few fresh plants? I love to see the small cylinder plant container hung on the wall. And I have been told more than once that many decorator’s secret is to simply pick some fresh plants from outside their home!

Sometimes just one splurge can go a long way. This marble vanity is quite the show-stopper! Sometimes, you can create the illusion of a thick, big piece of marble by simply joining two thin pieces together. And this is an excellent way to save money! Explore this method and see where it takes you.

Make Wallpaper Pop With Colorful, Painted, Accent-Trim

This bathroom is so intriguing. But I will admit, I would have never initially picked this wallpaper. But then, adding a deep navy paint color helps complete the space and give the wallpaper a sense of border that is much needed. Also, two small pieces of artwork add the perfect little pop of interest.

Moody Powder Room with Dark Floral Wallpaper

Moody floral wallpaper is just the thing to create a dark sexy vibe for a powder room. The gold hardware accents add great warmth, along with the bronze framed artwork. Don’t underestimate these small details!

Hunter Green Powder Room

Was hunter green on your radar? Check out this space. I also am admiring all the wainscoting wall details that give it a great layer of depth. A simple, square marble tile and brass details make it have a French-Bistro vibe.

I have never bitten the bullet and attempted this high backsplash that we see here. But I love it! The dainty gold-industrial vanity base balances out the sconce lights that look like small chandeliers. French Bistro or Speak Easy is what comes to mind with this fabulous powder room.

Last but not least, I love this olive and gold and floral powder bath combo! My challenge would be to see if you can get an affordable antique mirror such as this! The antique quality will have deep gold and tarnished colors. And the mixing of antique with fresh, current details creates a good ebb and flow.

Lastly, tall wainscoting. Isn’t it cool how the height of this bead board wainscoting is 2/3 of the total wall height? I love that unexpected detail. Secondly, if wallpaper is expensive, this could be an easy way to get the exact wallpaper you want without having to buy too much!

This concludes our moody powder room research. I hope these ideas have proven helpful!
