Crescent Moon Oyster Plates
At first, when I saw these partial-round versions of oyster plates, I didn’t like them. Now, that I have seen them displayed on walls, or on plate stands, I very much like them and their quirky shape!
If you come across one of these and it’s less than $100, that’s a steal! These are rare. And owners of them know that to be the case. So for sure snag that deal if you are lucky to find it! Estate sales… perhaps or online marketplaces such as Mercari?
What a wonderful install example of crescent oyster plates! I saw this and I will never be the same!
One day, I will have a nice collection of these crescent oyster plates. I hope to display them vertically, on a secondary wall just like this. It is just the most charming “artwork” for the wall.
Minton Majolica Oyster Plate- Vivid Color Oyster Plates From England!
You have probably started to notice that there are a few oyster plates out there with simply STUNNING COLORS. Minton English Majolica Oyster plates are those coveted oyster plates you are seeing.
Minton oyster plates have shells and seaweed decorating the lines between the wells. The redundant shells around the central sauce-well is reminiscent of jewels.
Teals, purples, pinks and blues are the main colors found on these Minton Oyster plates.
I hope to add one of these to my collection one day!
Square Shaped Oyster Plates
Square oyster plates are equally fun because we have the juxtaposing, round edges with the straight edges. It allows for several different colors to be used and two separate compositions.
This brings in another area of visual interest, outside of the oyster wells, themselves.
In both of these square oyster plates, we see delicate designs outside the oyster wells.
The top design shows delicate moments of magenta coral placed around the plate. And below, we have little floral moments all around the exterior.
Lastly, you will also see oyster plates with oyster-wells randomly placed on it and not in the normal-round shape.

Square Oyster Plate – With Round-Oyster-Well-Design in Middle
These square oyster plates are just fabulous. It’s as if the simple oyster plate was just not enough, and they needed to throw in another decorative ring of color and excitement to it.
Turkey Mold Oyster Plate
The turkey mold oyster plate gets its name because of the shape of the turkey head and its feathers on the outsides of the oyster wells. The shapes of the inverted oysters create the “turkey” shape.
The cobalt-blue, inverted-oyster-shell-designs create a gorgeous pop of color on this plate! For those blue enthusiasts, this would go great with your collection!
