One of the simplest but most dramatic upgrades we first did in our home was replace our hallway sconces with brushed gold sconce light (s). The previous lights were a brushed chrome and were very dated, but also just said, ‘I don’t care.’
The new light fixtures are brushed gold and have a cute semi-circle, half-lamp-shade that is flush with the wall and they warm up the walkway so much! It even just makes me happy looking in the direction of the powder bath!

These sconces are a nice mix of traditional and contemporary. The whole thing is brass gold metal, when typically, we expect the lamp shade to be a soft fabric. The arced neck of the sconce gives it a more modern CB2-Vibe that could be seen in a loft apartment above the nightstand.
Of note, these sconces have the cord visible, running along the wall, beneath the sconce. This could be a positive in the sense that anyone could install them and plug the cord in the wall.
The negative could be that the cord could be more visible than one would like. But, personally, I don’t think the visible cord takes too much away form the sconces and it would be a quick and easy install DIY, without having to add electric where you want to place the sconce!
